      SENCER—Mizzou’s Action Plan, August 2001

      Activities
  1. Implement and enhance SENCER teaching strategies in SENCER team members’ courses.
  2. Establish a faculty development program to support the creation and implementation of SENCER type courses.
  3. Work toward curricular change across the campus.
      Resources
  1. Seek external and internal funding to support proposed SENCER team activities, e.g., NSF Undergraduate Assessment program proposal.
  2. Work with campus resources such as: Campus Writing Program, PET, Student Life, Office of Service Learning.
      Evaluation Research
  1. Create faculty survey and create an inventory of existing SENCER type courses and their instructors. Keep track of changes over time.
  2. Create SENCER web site.
  3. Study a SENCER course—teaching practices and student learning.
  4. Do some market research on campus—who is interested in SENCER-type courses (students and faculty)? To what extent?
  5. Investigate and analyze best practices among campus faculty teaching SENCER-like courses.
